Brit Mitzvah

Well, it has happened again just last week. In fact, in happens every single time. After one of our Secular Brit Mitzvah ceremonies, someone comes up to me and says “This is the most meaningful Bar or Bat Mitzvah I’ve ever been to.” I often hear stories about ceremonies that consisted of memorized Hebrews and talks written by the rabbi. Our kids choose projects that are interesting to them – historical and cultural projects – and present a few of them at their ceremony along with a lot of group singing. If this sounds more up your alley than a religious ceremony does, check out Tri-Valley Cultural Jews’ Jewish Culture School at trivalleyculturaljews.org. If you aren’t in our area, you can find a similar Secular Cultural Jewish organization at csjo.org.
