In our Secular Humanistic Jewish movement, we treat boy babies and girl babies exactly the same. We provide a lovely naming ceremony that can have some elements of a bris – we can put a drop of wine on the baby’s lips, we can honor relatives by asking them to bring in and hold the baby – but the focus of the ceremony is on the parents naming their child.
