My Favorite Wedding

My Favorite Wedding

bukharan wedding

Here’s a wedding I didn’t perform. It’s from Bukhara in Central Asia.

From time to time, I’m asked, what was my favorite wedding. Sometimes I think maybe it was the one I did for my next-door-neighbor. Or maybe my first one, my sister’s, 30 years ago this month. Or a lovely outdoor wedding in Ann Arbor where the couple recited the verse from Walt Whitman, “I give you my hand! I give you my love more precious than money. I give you myself before preaching or law. Will you give me yourself? Will you come travel with me? Shall we stick by each other as long as we live?”

And then, I realize, no. None of these can be my favorite wedding, because my favorite wedding is always the one I’m about to perform, the one I’m working with a loving, funny, beautiful couple to make about them and their vision and their love.

Hi! I could have sworn I’ve visited this site before but after looking at some of the posts I realized it’s new to me. Regardless, I’m certainly happy I found it and I’ll be book-marking it and checking back regularly!

Hello! This post couldn't be written any better! Reading through this post reminds me of my good old room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this post to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read. Thank you for sharing!
